Resting on over 12 acres, El Matador is beautifully landscaped and meticulously attended featuring lush palm trees and manicured lawn. The resort is accented by surrounding sugar-white sand, the sparkling surf, and is convenient to many unique shopping establishments fine restaurants and a variety of water sports.
Age Requirement: NO reservations will be accepted for singles under the age of 25 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian shall be allowed to supervise no more than 3 individuals under the age of 25. Parent or legal guardian MUST occupy the same room as those they are supervising. Any reservations made under false pretenses will forfeit all prepaid rents and deposits and will be required to vacate the unit.

We love this property! We love that it’s the last complex bumped up against the Air Force base beach. We love how close it is the water. We love the pool area and work out center. And we love unit 455. It’s our favorite. Perfect location for just the 2 of us.

This condo is beautiful and spacious. It is also the cleanest place I have ever rented. Cleanliness is five stars here. The bed was also comfortable. My only complaint is that there is not enough water pressure in the master bathroom in the wash basin. There's plenty of pressure in the shower, just not the wash basin.

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend for a good friends wedding. We were pleasantly surprised with the condition of the property and the size of the one bedroom unit we rented. El Matador is an older property but it is well kept up and nice. We will definitely stay here again.

This is are second year in a row staying in this unit. We love this unit. Great location, great layout. Our only concern is someone rented it out from under us for next year. You would think that returning families would get first choice. We have been coming to El Matador for 15 years. Also just a fyi the second bathroom toilet runs all the time you need to shake the handle.

We had a wonderful beach vacation at El Matador. We returned after having come before because we love the low key, family friendly, and not over crowded features of staying here. The facilities offered and ease of getting around the complex is definitely a plus. The elevator worked great, also. Check in/out was easy. The unit we stayed in was pleasantly decorated and well appointed with all of our kitchen, bedding, and bath towel needs. Our view was INCREDIBLE! A large part of why we prefer to vacation on Okaloosa Island is to take in the gulf view and breeze. This unit gave us a beautiful, spacious balcony to soak up all we could! We had a small issue finding the code for our door in the envelope left in the lockbox. The font color was black with a red back ground under the company name; our tired brains didn’t notice it for a while. We expected it to be highlighted or written on the door code instruction sheet. That was truly the only issue. We would definitely recommend this anyone looking for a laidback and non-pretentious environment with great accommodations facilities and easy access to the beach!!

Beautiful condo with updated kitchen, brand new appliances, dishes & all the furnishings. We loved sitting on the balcony in the evenings and early mornings. . Quick walk to the beach & pool, gorgeous views of the beach... the unit was perfect for our family! We loved having the extra half bath—with two teenage girls with us, the extra bathroom was helpful! We also loved that there is a pull out queen couch in addition to a pull out twin bed. This worked well for our family! Beach service was a much-appreciated amenity that we will be looking for in future stays at El Matador. Thank you!!! We really couldn’t have asked for anything more! Already booked this unit again for next year. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We love staying in room 455 every year. However, please please change the bedroom curtain to a blockout curtain rather than a sheer curtain. As soon as the sun rises at 5:30ish, we are awakened by the penetrating light through the sheer curtain. Otherwise, the room is great!!

We loved the unit 455. It had everything we needed. The view was awesome. The half bath was so good. Our son went with us and it was great for him since he slept on the couch. The bed slept awesome. The only thing we didn’t have or could find was a dust pan to sweep up some sand. The other thing was the sliding glass door in the shower is kinda aggravating. That is minor stuff. We will be coming again and booking the unit again. Oh one more wonderful thing is the beach service being included was so wonderful. We love love this unit.

We thought the pictures of the unit were good but it was better than the pictures. We had several family members in other units and they were so jealous. The view was spectacular. The appliances were nicer than my home. We would stay there again for sure. Thanks for the great vacation.

I have been coming to El Matador for 26 years! I brought my daughter in law for a girls trip and stayed in room 455 for the first time! It was beautiful and felt like home every time I walked through the door! The mattress was not the best at all and I know they said they were coming to fix the shower door but everything else was fabulous! The room was the cleanest I have ever seen at El Matador, beautifully decorated, and we loved the patio balcony and the patio furniture the best and ate most of our meals out there! We love coming to El Matador and will definitely stay in room 455 again!

This unit goes down as our most favorite out of all that we have stayed in over the years. Beautifully decorated! Amazing ocean and pool views. Very clean and spacious. Perfect for our family of 3. Our stay at El Matador exceeded our expectations and was absolutely wonderful! We absolutely loved condo 455. We spent a ton of time just sitting on the balcony watching the ocean. The outdoor furniture was awesome. The condo was super clean, comfy and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was stocked with needed items to make all of our meals. Washer and dryer were right next door which was very convenient. We loved being able to walk to the beach at any time. We have been all over the Caribbean and this beach was right up there with the best of them. The property was well maintained. We loved it so much that we extended our stay an extra couple of days. Super easy check in and check out. We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Beautiful condo with great views in front and back of unit. We enjoyed the large balcony and appreciated having two bathrooms which is unusual to see in a one bedroom. The beach was beautiful and the pool was clean. Checking in and out was very easy and convenient and the grounds were clean and taken care of nicely. The only problems we had which are very minor, were with the microwave and the dishwasher. The microwave needs replacing as it is starting to rust inside and has a burning smell while using. Also, the dishwasher only runs for 15-20 minutes and then turns off. We tried washing on all cycles and it turned off early every time. We loved it here and will definitely come back.

The room was beautifully decorated, clean, and up to date. We especially liked that the room had a half bath room that was very convenient for our family. Our only suggestions would be that the king mattress might be replaced. The side of the mattress closest to the closet had the upper portion of your body lower than your feet, also some of the wall outlets might need some maintenance or possibly replaced. Besides this, we love the location of the the building and the easy access to the beach, pool, and parking lot. We enjoyed this year’s vacation.

Our second home
We have been coming to El Matador for the last 18 years and have stayed in Unit 455 the most. We like this unit, especially the 1/2 bath and some updates have been done the past couple of years. The top portion of both electrical receptacles on the sofa wall do not work (I believe we reported this before). Also, don't know what can be done about stove top (pots & pans don't sit level). I am always sad to leave
This was my 6th time visiting the emerald coast and my 3rd time staying at El matador. I am always sad to leave when it’s time to come home, but I know the emerald coast isn’t going anywhere and it’ll still be waiting for me when it’s my time to come back! Home away from home
This unit made an excellent refuge of rest and relaxation for my husband and I from the everyday rush of work schedules, caring for elderly parents and service work in our lives. While this is not the first time we have stayed at the El Matador that we love so much, it was our first time staying in this unit. It was the "perfect" home for the week for us! We've stayed at the El Matador for many years. I think that speaks for itself. The condos are always clean and furnished nicely. Yard work and pool are always well maintained. The office personnel are friendly and always ready to help if there is ever a problem. We always enjoy our stay here. We tried another condo on the island but it didn't compare to the beauty of this one.

The place was cheery, clean, and well stocked. We did notice that the inside of the refrigerator smelled like fish and I personally needed to clean it out with windex which I first needed to go out and buy. It would be nice if windex was left in the unit for purposes like this. I think the smell was probably because, just before our arrival, the refrigerator was left unplugged with the door shut so the air inside was not able to circulate. It would also be nice if a couple of beach chairs were left with the unit. The beach chairs to rent on the beach are too expensive. I would have brought my own beach chairs had a I known that none were left in the unit for use.

We have been staying at El Matador for 18 years and have stayed in many different units and have loved each and every one. Of course we have our favorites. They are all well maintained and clean. Don't think I would be happy anywhere else. We've been there while they were mowing the lawns, trimming the palm trees, re-bricking the swimming pool, renovating a burned out unit close by, asked to leave because of hurricane Ivan coming through, and a year after with sand still piled in the parking lot. Every year has been enjoyable. Staff and everyone does a great job!

We enjoyed our visit to this unit. It was great setting on the porch in the afternoon and being able to enjoy the beach and pool without the sun beating down on us. The unit itself was very large and allow us to entertain a large number of folks for a birthday party. This unit has a much larger open area than most of the two bedrooms units. Also the half bath is a very big bonus. At this time we are not sure if we will be returning next year, as this is normally a family outing, but should this be scheduled again next year this unit is the one we hope to get.

This condo was surprisingly large and a half bath was a real bonus for a one bedroom. The group I was with had two other condo's on the same floor and they all said ours was their favorite. It was clean and well decorated, had everything we needed. We will be back for sure next year.

We enjoyed our second stay at the El Matador, and are trying how to get back in a few months. We stayed in a different room this trip and were very happy with it. Hello: We totally enjoyed our stay with you. The unit's furnishings and décor exceeded our expectations. It was nice to stay on a property with secured/guarded access. The property was quiet and the staff very friendly and helpful. We are taking a vacation to Ireland next year but we will be back in 2017! BTW we found out about El Matador last year by talking with a very nice young man named Billy that worked shucking oysters at A.J.'s in Destin who said his Mom lived there. We saw Billy again this year at A.J.'s where he works as a waiter. Billy said he lives in Building #5. That's where your referral came from.

I'm a yearly vacationer and love staying at El Matador. I always have a great weeks stay. It's an awesome location and the beach is amazing. The only downside was the bedroom of room 455 did not get cool and does not have a fan overhead. Luckily I was rarely in the room, but this is a minor, quick fix! I'll be back next year definitely.

First time use of the whirlpool/sauna, very disappointed with the co-ed hours. My wife and I would have liked to use it later at night. In fact someone came in and told us that it was not co-ed hours while we were in the whirlpool! Just wish the co-ed hours were longer. Amazing visit
This was one of the best trips we've ever taken! The room was spotless with nice furniture. Loved how clean the bathrooms were. The guard was always nice and smiled. All four ladies on the trip valued having a gated entrance. It made us feel much safer being so far from home. I think the only thing we did not like was the sleeper sofa; it was very uncomfortable!!
Other than that, it was the perfect trip!! Can't wait to come back next year!
