To make your Florida vacation unforgettable, our beach resort offers an array of amenities which includes two pools (one is heated seasonally), tennis/pickle ball and basketball courts, a fitness center, whirlpools, saunas, meeting rooms and more! Resting on over 12 acres, El Matador is beautifully landscaped and meticulously attended featuring lush palm trees and manicured lawn. The resort is accented by surrounding sugar-white sand, the sparkling surf, and is convenient to many unique shopping establishments fine restaurants and a variety of water sports.
Age Requirement: NO reservations will be accepted for singles under the age of 25 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian shall be allowed to supervise no more than 3 individuals under the age of 25. Parent or legal guardian MUST occupy the same room as those they are supervising. Any reservations made under false pretenses will forfeit all prepaid rents and deposits and will be required to vacate the unit.

Great unit with perfect ocean view
Love the updated unit and the view so much we came back to the same one this year! There's everything in the fully stocked kitchen you could ever need. Even the broom and dustpan were handy to clean up sand during our stay. This unit is always very clean. One of our favorites is breakfast on the balcony with the ocean view or going to sleep with the bedroom windows cracked to listen to the ocean waves crashing.
The only draw back we've had both years is the difficulty with included chair and umbrella beach service. They are never easy to work with. This year the female told me to just pick chairs without a name on them to use. I expected our name or room # to be put on the set for the week. Last year we (my 15 yr old daughter and I) by the man working for sitting in chairs without names. Then next day we came out there were no unreserved chairs except 1 set at the very far opposite end. They would not set any out for us with our name, to have the same set/location for our 7 day stay. The same guy would come everyday up to us & ask our room# again. I'd tell him again and still no reserved tags, didn't ask my name or how many days we were staying. There has to be a better arrangement with Sunset than this daily chaos. Despite me explaining it was included with our unit, nothing changed. There should be a process explained in the arrival packet how to CORRECTLY obtain chairs included in the unit. Sunset should document name, unit arrival & dept then put out a reserved set daily as with everyone else paying separately.
Both tv remotes were not working properly. We had to keep adjusting batteries in the living room tv remote to work. Bedroom I could only get to come on & adjust volume. Guide, channel etc did not work. A little frustrating on the cold days without good weather. Overall, this is a great unit and complex.

Great Rental
We love this condo! 1) The view is AMAZING! 2) The location is perfect! 3) The updates have been done beautifully. We have ZERO complaints about our stay- so much in fact that we’re coming back in 2 months to the exact same condo! LOL I have vacationed at the El Matador for 29 years now and have loved every second of every trip- it’s home away from home for us and this condo (and this trip) was no exception! Everything was wonderful like always!

Very clean and spacious!
This unit had the exact ocean views as pictured, even more spacious than the photos and very clean. Love the fully stocked & updated kitchen. The entire unit was nicely updated. The only thing that would be helpful would be a small/sample size bottle of dish soap for the kitchen. Can’t wait to return next year!

We're BAAAACK
El Matador hasn't disappointed us yet... We've been here so many times over the past 10 years, I've lost count! We've tried other places, but they don't measure up. 454 was one of our favorite stays because of the convenience to the elevator and laundry (but no noise you might associate with those things) not to mention the AMAZING view. Loved the lack of carpet!! (I despise carpet, LOL) The beach service was the cherry on top! If I had to say anything negative, it would be that the couch wasn't comfortable. But, HEY!! Who goes to the beach to be a couch potato?!

Wonderful vacation
We request 454 every year. Noticeable, lovely upgrades this year. Small thing, but I appreciate addition of sheet pans. Still wish ice maker could be fixed. Water overflow causes ice clump. Minor annoyance in a great trip.

All in all the stay was great, and we really can’t complain. I do think the living room and balcony furniture should look into being replaced. It was just uncomfortable. The condo complex was very nice and quiet and enjoyed immensely and discussed returning possibly next fall.

The room was excellent and perfect size for our family of four. We always love staying at el matador. This unit seems to have been renovated recently so no complaints at all. Even though there was some construction around the building, the office staff was willing to work and accommodate till right before our arrival date. I’m glad we decided to keep our current plans and have a good week at the beach. Thanks for another great year Matador!

This condo was very comfortable and very clean. The views were great and the grounds and pool area was excellent. It has some updates in the kitchen and some of the furniture. However, a few more updates could be done, the couch and love seat were very uncomfortable and the patio furniture could be updated too. The bath had some nice updates but it could use a new taller toilet, not sure why that wasn't done. But overall very nice and comfortable. I would stay again.

I cannot recommend this condo enough! Beautiful decor, comfortable bed and pillows with extra blankets, leave your window open at night so you can fall asleep to the crashing waves. One of our favorites is the view from living room couch, we’d open the door to the patio and you have spectacular view of the ocean, so even if it’s a rainy day you still get the view! This condo is located at the very end and the elevator is just outside your door so your maybe 20 feet to sand with umbrella service included!! No need to call anyone to set up, it’s taken care of! Great restaurants near by: Stewby’s, Fubar, Fresh Seafood, Rockin’ Taco. We also enjoyed a sunset dolphin cruise with Seablaster (Destin)-absolute blast!! Book the trip, you won’t regret it!

454 is an adorable, clean and comfortable unit! Breathtaking view from the balcony, overlooks the pool and the ocean. We slept with our window open so we could hear the waves, very peaceful. We can’t wait to go back!

Great Views, Updated & Redecorated
This unit has amazing views from the balcony and bedroom. It has been recently updated & redecorated. The laundry room is conveniently located right next to this unit, as well as the elevators. The kitchen seems to be totally restocked with new dishes, cookware & kitchen items. The guard station is an added security bonus. All the office staff were extremely nice and helpful. I will definitely be staying in this unit again.

I enjoyed my stay at El Matador Unit 454. The condo has a great location, I woke up to a beautiful ocean view each morning. The balcony is large and has an amazing view of the ocean and the large pool area. The owners of this condo provide beach service, which is a great amenity. The condo was nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The laundry room is located directly next door to the unit, so that was extremely convenient. I am happy with unit 454, I've already booked my next stay.

October at El Matador
Stayed at unit 454 the third week of October. Our unit was spacious, clean and kitchen recently updated with a complete compliment of cooking equipment. The staff was friendly and helpful. There appears to be constant maintenance on a complex of tis size and we noted workman throughout our stay. The beach was beautiful and beach service great! A great fall getaway!

We stay at this unit every year. Love the view and beach area. Very nice update to bathroom. Website says updated living room furniture. Not the case. Sofa not very comfortable. Clock in living room has not worked in YEARS. Please replace. (We tried to change batteries several years ago. No luck.) We cook in room a lot. No cookie sheet. No ice pick, needed because ice maker has water overflow that freezes some ice in clumps. Minor issues compared to overall sense of peace and relaxation at our little piece of paradise.

Still love the El Matador!
This was our 6th stay at El Matador & the 2nd in Unit 454. As for El Matador, the location could not be better. It's the last condo on the beach, not crowded & next to gov't land. There's sign's posted to stay off gov't land but we've never had issues setting up chairs & umbrella's. This gives you greater privacy if you want it. Just keep your equipment near the water, respect & stay off the sand dunes. Their pools are very large and nice. However, It would be nice to have additional umbrella's & stands in the pool area. (I've suggested this before so I doubt it will ever happen.) Also, they should consider putting ice machines near the office. They could make a killing! Their employees are always mowing, cleaning & painting. The front office employees are very helpful and friendly. As for Unit 454, it needs a little work. The location is great. The bed is not very comfortable and the couch is too soft. The toilet hangs, meaning the inside float & parts needs replaced. (However, the new shower & shower head is very nice.) They could use additional towels, etc. We tried several hours getting local TV channels working... with no luck... & this continued for several days. Finally, after calling the office, a very nice young employee came within minutes. He found wires in the rear wrong & needed to re-programed a remote. Compliments to this employee! Good job! One thing the owner should do is make thing Simple for guest. You don't need 4 remotes, 2 TV's setting on top of each other & a DVD player! (We still needed 2 remotes just to watch TV.) Get rid of excessive equipment. Write down instructions & place somewhere which remote is needed to turn electronics on, off, operate, etc. (I maintained electronic equipment all my adult life & still had issues.)

Our Stay in 454
We recently stayed in 454 for our vacation. The room itself is beautiful, well maintained, updated kitchen and incredible views from the balcony and the window from the bedroom. Our living area was spacious and provided plenty of room for our family from other rooms to come over and have euchre tournaments! The temperatures were comfortable, easy to adjust on the thermostat. The bed was comfortable as well. The ONLY reason we did not give it an excellent review was the tv in the living room. Throughout the day and night it would randomly turn on by itself with the volume blasting. We would turn it off and an hour later it would come back on. This occurred at random times. We did not think to unplug the tv until the last day. A small but kind of weird flaw of the overall excellent room and excellent stay.

The hotel just perfect for the families vacation. Unit 454 is very nice decorated and super cleaned. The bathtub some kind of old but very clean. Everything, what we were using, is working with no complains. Thank you ELL Matador for our wonderful vacation!

I have stayed at the el matador 3 times and I’m already looking ahead and planning my 4th stay. It’s always clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. My only complaint is I wished I could have stayed another week.

We enjoyed our stay at 454, El Matador! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking simple meals. We enjoyed the balcony which had a great view of the ocean, also the window view from the bedroom was nice!. I also liked that it was all tile and hard wood laminate flooring throuout with some area rugs. I liked the colors and decor. The only thing that I did not love was the hard bedroom mattress, which was a little uncomfortable. This place is ideal for a couple or family of four with small children. I also liked that it was located right next to the elevator and laundry room. I would stay here again, very nice beach condo.

This is our 4th time to stay at El Matador. The room was very nice and clean. Everyone we've come in contact with has been very friendly and helpful. We travel a lot and this is one of our favorite places to come.

Wonderful Experience
Our stay at El Matador was a wonderful experience. All of the workers there were extremely helpful and nice. The room was clean and furnished with everything we needed. We had easy access to the ocean just a few feet away and the pool was clean and never that crowded. All the families that we met at El Matador were extremely nice. We had a great time, and I would highly recommend this condo!

Overall our stay was quite pleasant. We had an issue with the door locks on the first day we were there but everything else was very good. We had some noise issues with the tenant above us but that was taken care of quickly. Rooms were clean facilities were great, loved the location. Refrigerator and dishwasher were very loud but worked sufficiently. Would recommend the resort to others and will probably come back.

October in 454
We enjoyed our eight days in 454. Although we have stayed at El Matador for about twenty years, this was our first time in 454. We appreciated updated features, including balcony furniture. Note to owner: Although it functions well, the old refrigerator runs (noisily) much of the time. I think older residents would appreciate a grab bar in the bathtub (we certainly would!). Minimal dishes and glassware (only two wine glasses!). A pleasant stay, a fine view.

El Matador & Unit 454.
My wife & I stayed at the El Matador September 2015. As for Unit 454, it's very clean, has a great view from your balcony and a good location. The only complaint would be the sliding door is slightly rough and the bed is not that comfortable. As for El Matador, we were very impressed. Great pools, great location, nice employees, great beach. In fact, it's the best beach we have seen since Hawaii. We plan on coming back. On our last day, we did encounter biting flies on the beach. They were so bad we left the beach. We were told it's worse when the wind is from the North.

Had only one problem, the coffee pot in room 454 did not work. We have been at El Matador 9 of the last 11 years and always had a good time. We always enjoy our time there.
