This condo is very light and spacious and is among the largest available in the complex. It has the additional benefit of being an end unit, enhancing your privacy and quiet relaxation. Looking from the balcony you will enjoy viewing tropical plants, palm trees and a beautiful pool. The very large, private rear balcony is accessible from both the living room and the master bedroom via the large glass sliding doors. Owner provides umbrella and chairs.

Resting on over 12 acres, El Matador is beautifully landscaped and meticulously attended featuring lush palm trees and manicured lawn. The resort is accented by surrounding sugar-white sand, the sparkling surf, and is convenient to many unique shopping establishments fine restaurants and a variety of water sports.
Age Requirement: NO reservations will be accepted for singles under the age of 25 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian shall be allowed to supervise no more than 3 individuals under the age of 25. Parent or legal guardian MUST occupy the same room as those they are supervising. Any reservations made under false pretenses will forfeit all prepaid rents and deposits and will be required to vacate the unit.

Jack and I come back again and again. We love this facility, grounds, and condos. Thank you again for maintaining such a fantastic vacation destination. This time I ran into a small item to address. Fishing. I do not mind one or two lines here and there but the shore line was filled with fisherman in front of your facility. Some had 3-4 lines each. In front of building 3 the whole shore was lined with 2 peoples lines that fished sun-up to sundown. I do not have the answers nor do I feel I have any more rights that they do but it was an inconvenience and lessened the enjoyment of sitting, strolling and swimming.

Favorite place to stay
I’ve stayed at the El Matador as a child and we recently returned with our little guy. The property had amazing views that can’t be beat on Okaloosa Island.

Liked the unit. Stayed at El Matador many times in different units, this is definitely one of the better ones. Reason for coming back here is the surf fishing used to be really good. But since last year it turned really bad. Nobody caught a single fish the entire week I was there this fall. Looking for other places for this reason. If you don’t like to fish that doesn’t matter to you.

This is such a great unit- #449. Super clean, new and very very comfortable furniture in the den, and the beds are comfortable too! Roomy, nicely decorated, organized and neat. Of course the views are spectacular and cannot be beat but we’ve stayed in end units before that are nowhere near this nice. Plenty of towels, dish detergent and laundry soap was there for our use. We found extra blankets and pillows. I do wish the master bedroom toilet could be closed off from the sinks (yes, two is so nice) and there were some newer non-stick or stainless pans but this unit is the best we’ve ever enjoyed at El Matador.

Beautiful Resort
The resort is beautifully maintained and provides excellent service. I would highly recommend staying at the El Matador especially in Unit 449. The views of the Gulf from this Condominium are amazing! My husband and I had our meals on the balcony, because it provided the PERFECT setting. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our accommodations and definitely, a great place to get away for some rest and relaxation.

Best views at El Matador!
This is a corner condo, so it has the best views - with the ocean on two sides. Very clean. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and enjoying the breeze and views and sounds of the ocean. Not a far walk at all to the beach and pool. We rotated between the two with ease. We took advantage of InstaCart and had groceries delivered to us from Publix while we enjoyed the pool.

Unit 449 is excellent and one of the nicer units we have stayed in. It does, however, need a screen on the main sliding door for the balcony. The bedroom slider had a screen so you could leave the door open all night to hear the waves - the main balcony door had no screen otherwise it is a wonderful unit.

Unit 449 gave us an excellent week at the beach with its beautiful views of both sunrise and sunset from our balcony. The amenities also accommodated us well for the week. We will be using this unit again in the near future!

We normally stay in condo 441 this was our 1st time in 449 I was very nice I will be staying in 449 from now on we loved it very clean and updated also the view was beautiful. If I had to say anything negative it would be it needs a pullout couch for any extra guest other than that there is no other complaint. We will be back in 2022.

The unit was wonderful with spectacular views! We had rented this unit once before and it stated that the beach umbrellas and chairs came with the unit. It also stated that this time however they were not the rental ones on the beach. There were chairs and umbrellas in the outside closet. May need to change the wording just a bit. We ended up renting and that added another $180 we had not planned on. The unit has been updated and is well cared for. We enjoyed out stay.

Beautiful view and unit!
The kitchen was awesome and had all the supplies needed to cook for the week. The Beds were very comfortable and the recliner was loved by all. The only thing we would suggest would be a curtain or something for the master bedroom bath door since the door has been taken off.

Best El Matador condo views!
I’ve always stayed on the first floor units at El Matador. I NOW will always try for end units on floor 3 or 4 like this one. I could see the Gulf from my bed. I could see the water and beach while I cooked. I could see my teen kids in the pool and out on the beach. I could not only see the Gulf but also the Santa Rosa Sound and the dunes. We watched fireworks from my balcony. We saw a wedding on the beach from my balcony. Thank you El Matador for recommending this unit. The kitchen amenities were great. The unit it is above average condition. We loved the white leather recliner chair you can plug your phone in to charge. The master bed was SO comfortable. I’m already looking to rent this unit again!

The view couldn’t of been better. The decor was darling too. Enjoyed all the kitchen equipment as well. How can you make it better? It would be great to have 4 descent pillows on each bed and maybe 2 pillows for the couch. The sheets were very old or low thread count ( not soft ). Also the master bathroom needs a physical door on the entrance to the shower or bathroom. It’s not too romantic if you can hear someone using the facilities. Had a fabulous time.

The unit is simply marvelous, we love it. Wanted to stay again next year 9/5/20 - 9/12/20 could not book even though the calendar showed available. When called the office to see what the issue was they said their calendar showed it as booked 9/4/20 - 9/19/20. Totally disappointed. Will keep looking for dates that will work. Please let the owner know the umbrella and chair was broken, and the dresser in the guest room has loose knobs that kept coming off. Also have maintenance replace light bulbs in master bath. All minor issues which should be addressed.

I’m giving this unit an excellent rating because of the spectacular views it offers from two sides. The unit itself was nice, maybe just a bit dated. Master bath does have double sink and plenty of counter space. El Matador does a good job of keeping the property and facilities clean. I would stay in this unit again.

It was wonderful as always to vacation at El Matador. We love 449 as the furniture and bed are so comfortable. We had a few glitches: the lock needed to be replaced and the burners on the stove had to be fixed but this was done right away. We come to El Matador three times a year. We are looking forward to our return in October and in 2019.

Best location on Okaloosa Island
We have vacationed many times on Okaloosa Island; since 1994. This was our first time at El Matador. I love that the condo is the last one on the island! It’s very quiet and peaceful. The end unit 449 has amazing views! Having the windows in the living area and kitchen, we were always looking at the beautiful beach, even watching dolphins playing. My only suggestion for improvement would be to update the decor in the unit. The bed and furniture were comfortable. The tall chairs on the balcony were great! Everything was very clean. My wife and I would definitely rent this unit again!

Excellent View & Beach Access
Condo 449 is a corner unit with amazing views! Beach access is a short walk and more secluded since it is at the very end of public access for Santa Rosa Island. We were extremely pleased with the accommodations. The only reason I didn't give a review of "excellent" is that there is no door to the master suite bathroom. Everyone needs privacy sometimes!

Best View Ever
Loved this condo. I have never stayed in an end unit but will only stay in one from here on out. The view was even better than the pics. Staff was very friendly. I was concerned about the military base being so close, thinking that it would be loud. But it actually was not and enjoyed watching the jets that did fly over. Great place for a relaxing vacation. Will be back.

Great room with the perfect view!
My 5th year going to El Matador and my second year in a row staying in 449. I absolutely love this room and this condominium community. We will never stay anywhere else! The front office staff are amazing! Super friendly, and the guards always greet you with a smile! This is the best place to stay while visiting the Ft.Walton/Destin area. Our room has the best view of the ocean. Would love to stay in this room again, have to book next years trip fast as this is the more popular room. Would definitely recommend El Matador to anyone looking to book a trip to the area!

This was our first stay in Ft Walton and the El Matador. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the unit and with the entire complex. The guards were friendly and helpful and the staff was prepared for our arrival and made check in very simple and fast. I'm sure we will return in the future.

We loved our condo, the pool and the beach!! The only little problem we had was with our stove in the condo. The back left burner did not work and the right front burner only worked sometimes. Also, we had to rewash a lot of the dishes as they had stuff stuck on them. All the staff that we met were very nice, the chairs and umbrellas on the beach were great, the view was wonderful, and the pools were lovely. Would love to stay at El Matador again sometime. Thanks for a wonderful time!

We had an amazing stay at El Matador as always. There's no better place to stay when visiting Ft.Walton/Destin. We will definitely be back and hopefully get 449 again as that's truly the best room! The view is so gorgeous!

Rest and Relaxation!
We had a wonderful time as always at the El Matador! Our unit was just fine. The MB carpet may need cleaning soon - a bit musty smelling. Otherwise all was great!

Fun at the beach
449 is a great condo. The view is outstanding. The staff in the office were very nice and helpful..
The grounds at the resort were outstanding. Great job, to all the staff. The guards were nice and welcoming.
I must say, we missed the recliner and the swivel chair in the open area. The bath rugs needed washing. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year. Thank you all ☀️P

AMAZING VIEWS!!!
Above my expectations completely! Staff was very friendly..love the views and the fact that there was nothing but the beach next to us and nothing obstructing the beauty of it was awesome!! The pictures of this unit were great but to actually see it in person was amazing! If you're not into crowded beaches this is your destination spot. Best views of the beach! The unit was very spacious,clean property grounds. Everything we needed was at hand. HAD A GREAT WEEK!

Was very clean and nice. Did not like the tinting on the patio windows. View was gorgeous but when patio door closed it looked dark and Rainey outside. I know trying to conserve energy but would not block out that beautiful view!!!!

great spring break!
We have been coming to El Matador for over 30 years and have always stayed in a ground floor unit. This year we decided to try moving up a few floors and are we glad we did! Unit 449 had the perfect views!! I loved sitting on the patio with my coffee watching the beach fill up. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable!
We were given a key to the patio closet and told we had use of the beach chairs and an umbrella. Unfortunately the patio door was painted shut. We ended up buying chairs from Waves.
Also, and this is minor, we would have liked a door to the bathroom/toilet. There was not a lot of privacy with just a thin curtain.
We are looking forward to next year! And thanks for the amazing week of weather!!!

The condo was absolutely awesome. The colors and decorations were calming and easy on the eyes. The view from the balcony was second to none - we saw several weddings right on the beach which was a nice experience. To have the uninhabited beach to the one side of the condo was very special. The amenities provided, including the beach chairs and umbrella, were very much appreciated. Thanks for a great vacation!

449=Awesome view
Our family enjoyed a wonderful vacation at El Matador unit449. If you just like to sit and watch the ocean(and you don't even have to leave the room)...you're covered! If you like to get in the water and ride the waves... you're only a few steps away! I really like how the El Matador does not have a condo building on the right side, it's just wide open beach. Building 4 is the best by far.
