To make your Florida vacation unforgettable, our beach resort offers an array of amenities which includes two pools (one is heated seasonally), tennis/pickle ball and basketball courts, a fitness center, whirlpools, saunas, meeting rooms and more! Resting on over 12 acres, El Matador is beautifully landscaped and meticulously attended featuring lush palm trees and manicured lawn. The resort is accented by surrounding sugar-white sand, the sparkling surf, and is convenient to many unique shopping establishments fine restaurants and a variety of water sports.
Age Requirement: NO reservations will be accepted for singles under the age of 25 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian shall be allowed to supervise no more than 3 individuals under the age of 25. Parent or legal guardian MUST occupy the same room as those they are supervising. Any reservations made under false pretenses will forfeit all prepaid rents and deposits and will be required to vacate the unit.

Fun Family Vacation
Just stayed at El Matador room 428. It was a good room, not great. Water pressure for showering is pretty weak. I would highly recommend a rug or two on the balcony so eveeyones feet aren't black. Also, cockroaches. We saw 4-5 very large cockroaches running around our room, and they didn't come in when door was open. This place may have a small infestation somewhere, likely kitchen area where we kept seeing them. We will not rent this room again especially knowing our family had room 427 and it was wayyyyy better of a room. Also last years rooms we had were also much much better. The trip still went good for our family and the issues didnt harm the trip. We will return to El Matador but a different room.

This was the first time staying at El Matador. We stayed in unit 428. It was exactly as described. I love that it was so close to the beach. The lady in the office was so nice and helpful when I had any questions. Customer service was the best. That makes a difference when you are away from home. The grounds was always kept clean. Even though the complex was an older one the upkeep was great. We will be staying here again.

If you're looking for a fancy expensive condo go down to Destin and visit the emerald Grand. If you're looking for a clean comfortable room with a cozy view away from all the riffraff, there is no beating El Matador condominiums. We've been coming for 13 years and we continue our stay either in building three or four and we are never disappointed.

We always have a good time while in Fort Walton. We have come to this same condo 428 for several years. They are always changing and adding new things. Thank you for the new mattress’s and comforters.

Bradford Family Vacation 2022
There are not enough words to describe our amazing experience at El Matador! The room was perfect, the view even better and the beach was exquisite. We appreciate the convenience of the gym and laundry facilities and the office staff was warm and friendly. Amazing View from this condo
We really enjoyed this condo. Very clean, well-stocked kitchen. Enough room for 5 adults. We enjoyed the amazing views from our balcony, just steps from both the pool and the ocean. The location of the condo is away from the hustle and bustle of Destin, so in a quieter area. There were five beach chairs in the balcony closet which were a big plus! We had one maintenance call for a burnt out lightbulb. The response was very quick and friendly service. We would definitely consider staying in this same condo if back in the area!

Great week with family!
Condo was good! Maybe add a mattress topper on the king bed in the second bedroom that bed is hard as a rock. And also I couldn’t find a pizza pan so I bought some. I left one at the condo for future guest. Everything else was great! Close to the beach just one flight of stairs to go down. Great view!

We really liked the unit. Just a few things could be improved. The bathroom and shower area in the master is very small. Also the furniture on the balcony had rust on the tables. Other wise it was good. I really liked the "beach' décor.

Awesome view
The view from the condo was awesome. The porch could have used a couple more chairs so other family members could have enjoyed their morning coffee watching the dolphins. The rooms and furnishings were fine, just the master bath was a bit cramped, but made due. It’s only a little walk to the condos pool and beach. Our family had a wonderful time there, this was our second time to El Matador condos.

Excellent Condo 428.
We enjoyed our stay in 428. The view was great and the accommodations up to date. This condo has been well maintained. It had everything we needed including a kitchen filled with all the pots/pan/utensils needed to do some real cooking which we did. We appreciated the outside tables and chairs to enjoy the view. Our son and daughter used the second bedroom and the pull out coach. All the beds were comfortable. The only suggestion would be replacing the toilet in the master bathroom. The shower/toilet area is very cramped and hence it is difficult to use the older, lower toilet. A new higher, water efficient toilet would be welcomed addition. The staff should be clear on phone numbers. We had to change condos because of the crane/roof work. There were three phone calls concerning this BUT to our home phone. I had called the office with our cell numbers but for some reason those numbers were never used. Cell numbers should be requested for all guests if they have them. Group getaway
We were visiting with a group of 25. We had several units. Our unit was clean and well stocked for our family of five. The kids enjoyed the board games and movies that were in our room. The master bedroom mattress was very comfortable. The sofa in the living room leans forward for some reason. The carpet in the living room is pretty dirty. Overall the unit is very nice and the view is amazing! The staff at El matador is always exceptional! This was our second year at Elmatador and most of us have already booked for next year!

Minor attention needed.
Needs a few minor repairs. Door knob to front door is loose. Blinds in second bedroom are broken. Tub in hall bathroom doesn't drain well. Could use a new shower head in master bath and a new mattress in second bedroom. We have been coming here since 2002. Stayed in this unit many times and will continue too. First time we have ever felt it could use some attention. Had a great time. See y'all next year.

Who cares about a tropical storm
We arrived just ahead of a tropical storm for our vacation. Did not matter, the condo was AMAZING, the views were breathtaking from the balcony. They closed the ocean for a few days due to rio current but the pool and grounds as always were immaculate and made sure the storm didn't ruin our vacation. This is our 2nd as a big family group(5 adults one child) down to El Matador and as we were leaving we were already planning for the summer of 2019. The condo itself(428) was absolutely perfect and held our larger group just fine. Really appreciated the owners having a lot of beach gear already there so our daughter and the rest of us had chairs, and more then enough toys to play on the beach and in the ivean(when we were allowed). Honestly was the perfect vacation at the perfect resort and will be back in 2019 hopefully with a BIGGER group, and even if not a bigger group our smaller family group will be back and back in this exact condo. THANK YOU TO THE STAFF OF EL MATADOR AND THE OWNERS OF 428 FOR HELPING US MAKE MEMORIES OF A LIFETIME WITH OUR DAUGHTER AND FAMILY.

Very nice room! Updated! Still need to work on updating those bathroom though. Family atmosphere as always. Our family has been coming to El Matador for about 27 years now and we love it. I have already booked the same unit for July of 2018. Yeah!

Wonderful time beautiful clean comfortable condo! We loved it and would recommend it to anyone! The only problems we had were the TV in one bedroom and livingroom didn't work, but we didn't go to watch TV! So it wasn't a big deal! The hot tubs....not coed! That was odd to us. Overall great time beautiful quite place!

Good time as always right after Labor Day. Unit was good for two couples with two king beds. Outside storage has chairs, umbrella, tubes and boogie boards. Internet didn't appear to be set up, but the front office provided a different one we could use. See you next year. Thx.

Great place to stay. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Always a guard on duty and walks around to make sure everything is good. Its the last condo on the strip so you have more privacy. All around great experience!!!

The unit was comfortable and we enjoyed the two king beds vs two twins. Did have a couple of interruptions with a/c unit repairs and reclining chair repairs. Also the fridge runs excessively which seems to result in heat on the front division between the freezer and refrigerator door. This(?) caused our food to freeze a couple times toward the back of the fridge but not always. Loved the patio and furniture. Nice fluffy linens and a fairly well stocked kitchen compared to previous units in past years.

Just FYI...the kitchen faucet leaks when water is turned on high. And the ceiling fan is LOOSE! We thought it would spin off it's mounting, so we didn't use it on medium or high. Otherwise, this is always our favorite unit!

Time went tooooo fast.
Wonderful location. Perfect size. Plenty of dishes, etc. Wonderful being the last building on the peninsula, plenty of beach space. Sunrise out the back and sunset out the front door. Couldn't have asked for anything more - except more time.
