Our stay at El Matador was perfect from start to finish. I had no doubts from all the comments on FB and got to experience it this week for our 40th Anniversary. I plan to come back. Thank you to the front desk ladies, housekeepers and everyone else that helps to make Rl Matador the best place to stay on Fort Walton Beach.

Our stay at your resort was wonderful. We were allowed to check in a little early because the unit was ready-thank you. The unit was comfortable but wanted to point out a few things. The cabinets paint is pealing but it’s more than that it’s like the plastic coating is peeling. A few times I thought it would cut my hand when I tried opening the cabinet doors. The dishwasher door had to be manhandled to shut, one of the dining chairs was broken and the bar stools were about two inches too tall for the bar. The furniture does need to be updated however the patio table and chairs were perfect to view the ocean. Our neighbor, Susan, is a resident who was very pleasant to talk with as well as most everyone else we met. It was nice to have the laundry room next door to this unit. Thank you again for a great visit to the ocean. 

We could not have asked for a more perfect condo. It felt like home. The view was wonderful. Morning sunrises and evening sunsets were breathtaking. The water was so calm and crystal clear. Morning dolphins playing were neat to watch. The grounds were immaculately manicured. The beach area was very private. It was like having our own personal space. We plan to make this a yearly trip.

Our weather and our view was great. We loved our balcony furniture with the high seats to see the ocean. Our only complaint is that the mattress was very hard and we didn't sleep well. I slept on the couch every night. The toilet paper holder is about loose on the wall and the cabinet door paint is peeling and chipping. Also the skillets need to be replaced. They non-stick coating is in bad shape. We have been coming to El Matador for over 10 years, we think, and always enjoy it.

358 was great! Beds are very comfortable and decor is nicely updated. The fridge does pop open a lot- this needs to be addressed for people like me who like to stay a week at a time. :) we use more groceries. We always love coming and this unit is fantastic. Highly Recommend and would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay. Hearing the sound of crashing waves right from your balcony is calming. The grounds were immaculate. Hats off to the grounds team.

The view was spectacular! Eating meals on the balcony while watching and hearing the water was great. The unit was clean and inviting as well. I'd love to come back again!

It was a lovely rental. This was the first time using this particular condo. The only thing we would suggest is the Cox remote for the TV does not seem to work well unless you are practically standing in front of the TV and that's after we changed the battery. The view was lovely and we appreciated the quietness

Room was spacious and clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Would rent this unit again. The paint was peeling off the kitchen cabinets and the bedroom window was cracked. However, these did not cause issues with us using the condo.

Very spacious with a perfect view! Sleeper sofas are not comfortable so maybe having a mattress pad to put on it! That would be an added bonus to this room! Love the mirrors! I would definitely stay in this room again!

The 1 bedroom was very nice, the living room was very spacious. I rented the same type of room for next summer.

My time at El Matador is always enjoyable. The beach and the location suit me to a tee!

I have fallen in love with El Matador. I love the green space, the palm trees, the uncrowded beach (relatively speaking) the beach chair service. The employees I encountered were all professional and friendly. The pool is incredible! As for unit 355: it needs some updates. The worst pillows on the gulf coast. I even tried using throw pillows from the sofa. After tossing and turning for the entire first night I rolled up one of my big towels from home and used that. If you have a nice pillow at home that you like - bring it with you. I forgot mine - my mistake. The mattress is hard and seems to be old. The kitchen was nice. The paint is starting to peel off the cabinets. Plenty of good dishes, cooking utinsels, pots and pans and GREAT coffee mugs! Great bowls for ice cream or soup. Water pressure was good. Overall the unit was very clean and enjoyable. The balcony and the view are stellar. Plenty of windows and mirrors in the living room gives the feeling of a larger space. This is an older property - built like a fortress and has withstood many storms. I want to OWN one of these for my retirement!

The location is at the end of the road and adjoining uninhabited endless beautiful white sands and ocean. The view was fabulous. The unit was clean and quiet which was perfect for a relaxing vacation. everything worked as it should and had all the appropriate amenities. The bed could use some improvement for comfort and the patio furniture is not ideal for dining outside. I would definitely stay here again.

Staying at El Matador is my way of getting away from it all! I love staying in Building 3 and Unit 355 was lovely! Thanks for another wonderful visit!

My wife and I had a wonderful time. The room was even better than the pictures on the website. Everyone was very helpful. It is definitely a place to bring your family to relax.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay. This place was immaculate, spacious and the views were breathtaking and enjoyed from the large deck. I am not sure you can get much better than this if you decide to stay on Okaloosa Island. The condo's are at the end of the island and you have miles upon miles of white sandy beach to walk on. It is very private and yet not far from restaraunts and shopping. LOVE IT!!

Will most definitely be booking again for next year .

Room was very nice and clean. Upon leaving the door knob came off the door. It probably needs to be replaced as it had rust showing up in the cylinder. We plan on hopefully planning another trip down later on next year. Great location.

We enjoyed our stay with El Matador in October of 2018. Our unit was situated over the pool and beach, and I found it extremely convenient to keep an eye on my teen boys without having to go out with them personally. Since I have MS and am not very mobile-this was the perfect scenario for us. We enjoyed how uncrowded the area was since it is on the end! PERFECT! If you are looking for granite counter tops and the newest amenities-El Matador is NOT for you! But, if what your are looking for is a modest spot to enjoy the beach with your family without crowds, and you don't mind a little peeling paint as long as the unit is modest and clean-then El Matador is DEFINITELY for you! One thing for disabled guests: While El Matador is considered a handicap accessible beach, I did not find this to be the case. (I'm sure I would have the exact same problem at any of the access spots-it is the nature of wood meeting sand....) My family decided we wanted to watch the sunrise from the beach one morning so we looked up beach wheelchairs. The county offers them for free, but they don't open until 9am, so we decided to rent one (from an independent dealer) so I would be able to go down on the beach and enjoy the sunrise with my family. It wasn't cheap to rent one, but we all agreed the sunrise would be a highlight of our trip. They delivered the chair in the early afternoon, so I decided to give it a whirl and go out on the beach in it as a test run. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!! First off-these things are not for the faint of heart. My husband is a prior military guy in his early 40s-and he was sweating bullets by the time he got me pushed down to the beach! When we got to the beach entrance and got to the end of the boardwalk where it meets the sand-there was an at least 18 inch drop off between the wood and the sand!!! There was NO WAY that beach wheelchair was going down that without a very serious spill! So, I ended up getting out of the chair completely (no easy task) so that my husband could pull it down to the sand and then try to hold onto me to navigate my way down myself-and I use walking sticks or a wheelchair normally! I can walk-I just have zero balance or equilibrium and my legs are very numb. Basically-I wall surf! The entire event was expensive and dangerous for me! Please be aware of what it is exactly you want to do before attempting it! It cost us $150 and a very irritated evening with my husband! I now say that I paid $150 to torture my husband! LOL Outside of our beach wheelchair experience we enjoyed our visit immensely! We will be back again!

We have stayed at El Matador numerous times. We like the accommodations, the property is kept clean and neat. The check in/check out process is easy, and all employed are helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated, updated, and conveniently located to the beach and the main pool. The location of the complex in proximity to Eglin allows El Matador to maintain a more private, secluded feel to the beach experience. We are looking forward to our next stay at El Matador!

The room was better than perfect. The location was central and the laundry room was right by the room. The room had everything we needed and the accommodations were perfect. The view was breathtaking which overlooks the pool and the beach. Worth anything you pay and we will be choosing the same room next time. Very clean and accommodating and the property has 24/7 security and always someone around

Absolutely love El Matador. It’s our home away from home. Building 3 or 4 is the ticket. You cannot beat the beautiful ocean views from those buildings. The beach is not overly crowded. The staff is very helpful. When we go to the beach we go to El Matador.

Overall this was a very pleasant and restful experience for us. What you need to do is make sure that the weather is even more pleasant than it was during our stay (it was a little on the cool side). The only other thing that I will mention is that there was only two shelves in the refrigerator. It wasn't really a problem for us but it would be for anyone staying for a longer period of time. We enjoyed ourselves there as we did last year. Look forward to next year.

We really enjoyed our stay there. The only disappointment was the seaweed on the shore but that is not the condos fault, lol. We will most definitely return again. Thank you!

We truly had the best vacation as our family at Fort Walton Beach this year. The El Matador was exactly as expected and more. The room was beautiful. The balcony was large and had the perfect view of the ocean all week. We will absolutely be back next year! This will be our new vacation spot year after year.

Great location and view! Needed some updates to the bedroom curtains, the front door, and the sliding glass door. Overall, good value and will plan to stay again. Love Building 3!

The facility is very well maintained, and we love the location at the end of the island. Great family feel. Will definitely be back!
