To make your Florida vacation unforgettable, our beach resort offers an array of amenities which includes two pools (one is heated seasonally), tennis/pickle ball and basketball courts, a fitness center, whirlpools, saunas, meeting rooms and more!  Resting on over 12 acres, El Matador is beautifully landscaped and meticulously attended featuring lush palm trees and manicured lawn. The resort is accented by surrounding sugar-white sand, the sparkling surf, and is convenient to many unique shopping establishments fine restaurants and a variety of water sports.

Age Requirement:  NO reservations will be accepted for singles under the age of 25 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian shall be allowed to supervise no more than 3 individuals under the age of 25. Parent or legal guardian MUST occupy the same room as those they are supervising. Any reservations made under false pretenses will forfeit all prepaid rents and deposits and will be required to vacate the unit.

Amazing view!
The view was perfect! Being a corner unit, we even had a great view at the kitchen sick. The unit itself is pretty dated. The furniture has some stains, the carpet also has stains and is looking very worn. But, everything so clean! All appliances worked properly and the beds were comfortable. The grounds are kept in pristine condition -gorgeous! Staff is very friendly and helpful. We will visit again.

The condo was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen had wonderful appliances for our use. The only problem I saw was the master bathroom shower was not in working order, looks like it was removed, had to use guest shower. And the kitchen does not have very hot water to wash..we will stay at these condos again. The beach access was wonderful.

My family and I love everything about El Matador: grounds are always beautiful and well maintained; friendly staff; gated; two pools; feels private; family friendly. We have vacationed here several times, but this was our first time in 350. It needs updating which I could see from the pictures online. I could also see that the view was amazing, so it wasn't a deal breaker for me. But the beds...The only reason I did not give an excellent rating was because of the beds. The most comfortable bed in the unit was the sofa bed and that's not saying much. If any updates are done, please start with the mattresses. Other than the uncomfortable nights this condo was perfect.

Our 6th year here
We love vacationing here. The beach is basically private being the last resort on the street & an older smaller resort next door. Everyone we came in contact with was so friendly from the security gate keeper to the pool/yard guys to the gentleman who set up chair/umbrella sets. We’ve stayed in the same room the last 4 years & my only complaint in those years was the screen door on our balcony was busted so we couldn’t leave our balcony doors open at night to hear the waves. (The flies were really bothersome & biting this year.) Otherwise we again enjoyed our stay & are already planning our next.

Amazing view
Another excellent stay at El Matador! Condo 350 was clean and has spectacular views! It met all our living/vacationing needs. The staff handled an issue with a broken oven door quickly and professionally. They exceeded our expectations by replacing the oven, very friendly, they didn’t try to blame us and they didn’t charge us, instead they provided a monetary discount for our troubles of having to deal with it during our short stay there. I will be back again, even with the rate increases for 2023, you cannot beat this view!

The view from this unit cannot be beat. The unit itself is tired and in need of a major update. Furniture is old and worn out. Wallpaper and carpet look like the 1980s. Kitchen is outdated. Nice TVs. AC works well.

Great Stay!
The location of El Matador itself cannot be beat. I love being located at the end of the beach so I don’t feel overcrowded by all the other beach goers. Unit 350 was also in a fantastic location. When I travel from my inland home there is nothing I want more than to see the Carribean. In 350, I could see it at all times from several different views. This end unit is a jewel! I only have a few suggestions for improvement. The living room furniture could benefit from a little updating. The chairs were not in great shape and the foldout couch was not comfortable. Also, I wished that the balcony furniture was counter/bar height so we could look out OVER the railing as we ate our breakfast each morning. The floral wallpaper and blue carpet were a little dated but honestly that’s not what I was there to see so it didn’t bother me. The view out each window and sliding door more that made up for it. Other than that, everything in 350 was great. I also loved having a keypad entry, so there was no need to carry keys to the beach. I would highly recommend unit 350!

Can't beat view
The unit was very comfortable. We have stayed in other units in Building 3, but this is the best. It was our home away from home. One issue: the refrigerator seems very new, but the freezer door was frozen shut. We were afraid the handle would break if we forced it.

Unit 350
This unit is lovely and fairly well-maintained. The king bed in the front bedroom is comfy and the ceiling fans are really helpful. We had a great time and will stay there again, if possible.

Beautiful Condo
This was our 3rd stay in 350. We have been coming to El Matador for 20 years and this is by far our favorite condo. The views can’t be beat and the condo itself is well appointed and comfortable. Already planning our next trip back!

The view is the best. The kitchen is well equipped and access to the beach is excellent. The condo needs to be refreshed. The shower door in the master bedroom was not usable as it was off track. This is the tenth time, I have stayed in El Matador. Its location on the isolated beach is the best.

Always a Wonderful Stay
This was our sixth stay at El Matador as a family, and the 2nd stay at this particular unit (350). As in times past, we enjoyed the room, the building, the pool, and the beach! (Although Tropical Storm Barry put a damper on the beach for the last couple of days of our stay.) Upon our arrival, unit 350 was clean and well-maintained, and the view was incredible! Looking forward to returning again in 2020!

We have stayed at El Matador for the past 3 years for our vacation. We love the privacy of being the last beach on the island & of course the soft white sandy beach! The weather didn’t fare great while we were here but there were some additional games found in the room that kept us occupied. This room though!!!! The ocean view is panoramic... literally. Out of every window in that unit you can see ocean! It’s the best view we’ve ever had. El Matador is just far enough away from the tourist traps to feel like a relaxing vacation & just close enough to them to find something fun to do if the weather doesn’t pan out! Stewby’s (a great seafood place) is building a new location on Santa Rosa & there’s always the trusty Asiago’s Skillet just down the road, two great choices for close food! We love this place & plan to keep coming back!

It's still good, but not as great as it used to be
El Matador is our favorite place in the world and we will always come back, but we're not sure we will go back to 350 next time. Of course, almost nothing about the unit itself could trump the view and location - the 180 degree vista is breathtaking. However, from our perspective, having stayed in 350 three times now, it is unfortunately going downhill. It is not as clean as it used to be, particularly the bathrooms, and there is now mold in several places. The shower doors in the master bath do not work properly and the shower drain is stopped up. There are many kitchen utensils and eating ware missing that were there before, and two of the burners on the stove are broken. And most of the furniture in the main room have what appear to be rust marks or some other kind of stains. Like I said, it is still a corner unit with a 180-degree ocean view, and nothing will take that away. But it is a shame that - for the lack of a little TLC - what could be a really great unit is now just a good one. Sadly, we will look at the possibility of other units at El Matador next time.

We have stayed at El Matador since we were kids in the middle 1970s. We love the view from 350. The unit is in need for some upgrades but the view overrode that need. Besides a little issue with the beach chair guy we had a great trip and much needed rest.

Another Fun Trip at El Matador
For a quiet and peaceful trip, this place is great. People who visit need to be aware this is a condo and to bring their own food because there is no restaurant on the premises. It is a family friendly place with no daily maid service. The accommodations are comfortable and again, family friendly. Condo 350 has a great 180 degree vista of the Emerald Coast. We spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the view. The beach is gorgeous and is located next to the isolated AFB beach which makes it seem like you have your own private beach. There are plenty of activities (restaurants, stores, etc) nearby if you get tired of the quiet. I recommend renting beach chairs and umbrellas from the local rental service. You do not have to bring your own and they set them up daily.

What's a wonderful time as always at the El Matador staff and the guests are all friendly unit 350 needs a little updating and a little deeper cleaning the pull out bed in the couch needs to be replaced but besides from that it was a wonderful time

Beautiful unit, beautiful view
Well what can we say about 350, corner unit on the beach with a 180 degree breathtaking view. We always come back here and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Furnishings are great, beds are comfortable, everything was functional except the dishwasher, which had standing water that had obviously been there for a while. But things break and at least someone came promptly to look at it. Our only negative comment is that the unit was not as clean as our previous stay, in particular the kitchen and master bath. We're picky, yes, but on our previous stay it was immaculate so couldn't help but be a little disappointed this time. To the cleaning staff, this is a special unit, so please give it special attention!

Hard not to like an end unit with that view! Everything was clean and in working order, and overall the unit is in pretty good shape (I know these properties take a beating with rentals). Only one small item, the drain in the master shower is very slow and seemed to get slower as the week went on. Otherwise, well done, we enjoyed it and can't wait to come back in May.

Our Stay
Overall the condo was nice and the views were outstanding! However, the leak in the window closest to the living room sliding glass door was an issue until the rain stopped. The curtain at that sliding glass door was also inoperable and needed to be opened by hand. That said, maintenance was very friendly and looked into both matters. We suggested that the window be re-sealed after we left on the 27th and maintenance stated that new curtains had already been ordered for the room and if we were "okay" with that, they would wait to simply replace the curtains when them came in. As far as the condo itself, we would stay there again and would recommend anyone wanting a great vacation with great location and views to rent it as well. We're very appreciative of the staff there, from Security to Management, for their friendliness, quick attention to any problems, and their professional demeanor. Great vacation for us!

Had a lovely stay!
All 7 days spent at El Matador were great! This was our 5th time staying there since 1999 and we will be back again for sure. Everything was clean and well-kept. Also, kudos to the lady who was watching the entrance: she was lovely and always greeted us with a wave and friendly smile whenever we entered.

Amazing Family Vacation.
This was our 4th family vacation at El Matador and we hope to return again. The beach, with reasonable people traffic, is clean and well maintained and the ocean water itself warm, lovely and inviting for all! The kids had a blast! Pool, only a short walk from the beach, we can go back & forth, pool to beach, beach to pool as family tastes dictate. The room was comfortable for a family of 6, excellent AC, well stocked with appliances and cookware, facilitates economical breakfasts and lunches and the location is readily accessible to multiple restaurants varying from value priced to near adults only. You won't regret a visit to El Matador, definitely suited for those preferring a calmer vacation, as opposed to the flashier, more commercial Destin, yet if you want to visit Destin, it is a mere 15 minutes by car.

Beautiful Condos
Our condo was beautiful, the views were amazing. Condo was well stocked as far as dishes, cookware etc. The only issue was with the trash chute, which was backed up/completely full every day. Guests including myself had to leave trash on the floor by the chute, which sometimes was not picked up until the next day. Otherwise it was an awesome experience as always-we love El Matador and will be back.

Wonderful resort in a terrific location
We have stayed at El Matador before but this time went with a group from our family. Condo had everything we needed. Did a family ban at the grill one evening, pool was perfect for both adults and children and we LOVE the closeness to the beach! I wish there was an outdoor hot tub by the pool, but otherwise perfect place to vacation!

Great Family Condo
The unit was beautiful and had all the things we needed to enjoy our stay. Elevators were quick and clean; staff helpful; grounds clean and family friendly. Only complaint is that kids were allowed to run and scream in the common area between blds. 3 & 4 during the afternoon and evening hours - we complained to security and they came and talked to them.

All about the view!
This unit was not as updated as some, but the view more than made up for that. We even saw fireworks from the balcony! The beds could use replacement and the issues with the sliding glass door in the living room continue. However the unit was clean and comfortable. The complex was quieter than any we've stayed in. Check-in and check-out were easy and uneventful. The pool was clean and not overcrowded (which was nice during peak season). We would definitely consider staying at the El-Matador in the future.

Loved the view!!
The view of the ocean & beach from 350 is amazing! We will definitely be back next year and look for this unit or another on the end of building 3. The breathtaking view made the issues that we ran into seem very minor. The door leading from the living room to the balcony was broken and we had to go through the bedroom door. It was a minor inconvenience except for keeping my husband awake (who needs to sleep on vacation anyway!) When I contacted the office, I was told that a work order was in and it would be fixed when the parts come in. I wish I had been told that upon check in but it's not a big deal. The coffee pot needs to be replaced. The door in the master shower is hard to open/close. The couch bed had a metal rod that had fallen off and was poking out from beneath the couch. I left it on the table. The bed operated fine without it. Other than that, everything was great and we had a great time! Manager's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are sorry for the inconvenience of the sliding glass door not working correctly and we have replaced the coffee pot and had maintenance fix the shower door and bed. We hope that we will have the pleasure of providing your accommodations the next time you visit beautiful Okaloosa Island.

Great Vacation
We enjoyed our stay. Two minor recommendations: The sliding glass door from the living room to the balcony was very difficult to open and close. I think the door needs new rollers. Also, the stairwell light shines directly into the second bedroom. A heavy shade is needed to block out that light. Managers Response: We have had the sliding door fixed and have given your recommendation on the shade for the guest bedroom. Exceptional view from balcony
I have stayed in units in building 3 and 4 many times but this is the first time I stayed in a unit on the end of the building facing the beach and on the 5th floor. The view was exceptional. The unit was clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked. The overall appearance of all the buildings and grounds is beautiful and very well maintained. I only dealt with the staff during check-in but it was a very positive experience. Nothing but good things to say.

spacious clean condo
This condo was decorated very nicely. It was clean with all white linens which I prefer and very comfortable furniture. It has nice patio furniture to lounge around on and enjoy the most beautiful views. I cannot find anything wrong with this condo or the management at the El Matador. Since I have to use a walker to walk it was nice having a ramp down to the beach without steps. It was also nice having a walk in shower for those of us with bad knees. I can't wait to come back. I would suggest adding an outdoor hot tub in the area where the pool is next to the beach.

We love the El Matador & have wintered there for 16 years. Unit 350 has some of the best Gulf views of any on Okaloosa Island. This year we have had some problems with the just over a year old refrigerator. Condo owner & management are doing best they could to get it replaced. Certainly an inconvenience.
