Resting on over 12 acres, El Matador is beautifully landscaped and meticulously attended featuring lush palm trees and manicured lawn. The resort is accented by surrounding sugar-white sand, the sparkling surf, and is convenient to many unique shopping establishments fine restaurants and a variety of water sports.
Age Requirement: NO reservations will be accepted for singles under the age of 25 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian shall be allowed to supervise no more than 3 individuals under the age of 25. Parent or legal guardian MUST occupy the same room as those they are supervising. Any reservations made under false pretenses will forfeit all prepaid rents and deposits and will be required to vacate the unit.

Excellent Place
Unit 336 has excellent beach views, was clean, beds comfy. We slept 4 adults comfortably and enjoyed sitting on the balcony with breakfast every morning. The beach on this side is also less trafficked, which was great for fishing and swimming. Tip: if you plan on cooking, make sure you bring your own of everything (salt, pepper, cooking oil, condiments, etc). The condo is pretty fully stocked with kitchen tools and appliances, but none of the foodstuffs.

Repeat Customer for 25 years
I always stay at the El Matador when I am in FWB (about every other year). This place has some of the old Florida charm and feel while being modern and up to date. The staff is efficient and friendly, security is good, and the amenities excellent. Keep up the good work.

We'll Be Back
The unit we stayed in (336) had the perfect view and if there is a storm it's on the safe side. The location is excellent because it is at the end of the road and anyone can enjoy the beach on the military reservation which is adjacent to the complex. Win-Win!

Great Location
This was my second time staying at El Matador. I really enjoyed it, and I will definitely be back again. What I really liked is after the storm, the next morning, the maintenance staff cleaned up the property and pool first thing. The location is great. It's never too crowded on the beach, and beautiful views.

I thought everything was kept clean, everybody was very friendly! I would stay again if we were aloud to bring our family pet, yorkie he behave's better then most kids! Other then that, very nice clean & safe place to stay!

We always love staying here. This unit was not quite as nice as some due to the fact that it was very "bare" , not much as far as kitchen dishes etc . lacking decorations but the view was great !

My home away from home
My family has been staying at the El Matador on vacations since before I was born in 1978. I have never had a stay here that wasn't perfect to me. I hope to stay here every year for the rest of my life and ideally, I will own my own condo here. My children have been growing up with this as a staple since they were born as well. They are 9, 13, & 18. This place is a paradise. It is a legacy that has been loved by four generations in my family. This is a heaven.

We were very pleased with our condo, but there is always room for improvement :)
The mattress on the couch was pretty bad, making a good night sleep near to impossible.
The towel situation, if there are no available washer/dryers that you don't have to pay for more towels should be left in the room.
I loved the location and the beach wasn't as busy as Destin. We would stay here again, everyone was friendly.

Over 20 years of visits and I keep coming back
I love the El Matador. The buildings, beach, pool, grounds, and units are all awesome. The personnel are always friendly and helpful. Unit 336 was everything I expected from an El Matador rental. Comfortable and very nicely decorated and furnished. I have only 2 suggestions for improvement. The light fixture over the dining table was not connected to any switch I could find and the switch on the fixture itself did not work - never figured out how to turn it on. Many of the Teflon skillets and pots are scratched and worn out and should be replaced.

El Matador Never Disappoints
This is our 6th time staying at the El Matador and each time is better than the last. The room was fantastic, the view was peaceful and serene, the staff was great! The grounds keepers were hard at work everyday to keep the place looking and feeling it's best. We will definitely be coming back next year. I'm missing the Emerald Coast already! Come on 2016!!!!

Our stay at El Matador on July 8-12th
Condo was wonderful and just perfect for our group. We really enjoyed the family atmosphere and knowing the kids were safe in the complex with security as well. We had several friends from Ft Walton come visit with us and they remarked how nice the complex was especially since it is one of the first that were built on the island. I asked the children what was their favorite time and they remarked that it was all wonderful and they could not choose anything over the rest. We had a problem with the a/c on Saturday night but management had a guy their within an hour and fixed it immediately, so we were impressed with that as well. Thank you, Florida!

Beautiful Place
I booked El Matador sight unseen and without any recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised! The place was right on the ocean with a beautiful ocean view. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. More than enough room for my husband and I. Very clean and neat! Had everything we needed. Will definitely return! Price was right too! Great staff!

Overall great stay
It was disappointing when we had to move units because the the a/c went out in the original unit we were put in. Silver lining was, it happened within hours of arrival and not in the middle of our stay, and the office was extremely helpful and very quick to get us into a unit with a working a/c unit. All in all, it was a great stay with no complaints from us. I did want to call attention to the manner in which my friend, whose wedding brought us to El Matador, was treated when it came to her wedding day. There were issues brought up and/or questions asked of her/her fiance that should have been addressed upon arrival and in all reality and more appropriately, during booking. Questions of insurance and certain restrictions regarding their small reception following the ceremony should not have been addressed two hours before their wedding. Other than witnessing that, our stay was great and we will likely return. The location is great. Thank you, The Dressel's

This room was great. The pictures is the exact same as when we enter the room. My family and I will be visiting the El Matador on our next visit. Everybody was so nice a friendly. GREAT view of the OCEAN

The building 3 Condo looked like it had been upgraded. Nice Condo.
The Pool area was nicely kept.
All in all, our stay was fun and worth coming down.
